Teens Save Their Parents During House Fire In Springwater

February 7, 2015

SPRINGWATER, NY – Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty reports that a family in Springwater survived a house fire, when their home was discovered to be on fire by two teenagers.

Sheriff Dougherty says the two teens came home from school at about 3:30pm on Friday, and discovered that a part of their residence was fully engulfed, and that the fire spread throughout the entire house.  The teens attempted unsuccessfully to put out the fire, which was coming from a pellet stove hopper, but were able to wake up their parents and all escaped unharmed.

According to officials, the family will be staying with other family members, and the Red Cross will be assisting.
