On Monday night, the Canisteo town board voted to have town supervisor Joe Harrington interview engineering companies JM Davidson and the MRB Group. The board also voted to allow Supervisor Harrington to decide on which company to hire to do the repairs, from the August 2024 flood damage.
Canisteo Town Board member Steve Kilmer nominated Steve Cotton as the new deputy supervisor to take the place of Anthony Stewart, who did not seek reelection. Steve Cotton was also reappointed tax collector and town historian. Canisteo Town Board Attorney William Thew says it’s legal for a town clerk to be a deputy supervisor. Also William Lain, the new town board member, is taking the place of Anthony Stewart on the town board. Dr. Bruce Mackellar was named the town medical officer.
