The Canisteo Village Board has voted to buy a Code Red Alert system. Canisteo Village Mayor Richard McInroy says it’s estimated to cost $1700 a year and the mayor hopes to have it working within the month. This Code Red Alert system will notify residents of urgent situations by text, cell phone calls, landline calls and emails.
Also, about two dozen people showed up for the public hearing on Monday night, at the Canisteo Town Hall. A representative says they will fund the needed $30,000, to pay for Canisteo’s new dog kennell.
Canisteo Volunteer Fire Chief Don Lewis told the village board on Tuesday night that the fire department purchased a used ambulance from Troupsburg recently. Lewis says that the ambulance still has to have some work done on it and has to get the official approval from the Department of Health. This is expected to happen within the next four weeks.
In other Canisteo news, village officials say that the Canisteo-Greenwood School will soon be trimming the trees at the Canisteo Living Sign.
