Three New Vehicles For Hornell Police Dept

November 2, 2022

HORNELL, NY – From Deputy Mayor Jessica Cleveland: The Hornell Police Department recently added 3 new vehicles to its fleet, two Dodge Durangos and a Dodge Ram truck. The City has moved to a leasing program for its new police vehicles, which has proved tremendously successful.

“Since starting this program, we have stabilized costs and significantly cut down on repairs to the fleet,” said Mayor John Buckley. Unlike personal leasing, municipal leasing does not have mileage or condition restrictions and the vehicles are owned outright at the end of the lease term.

“Our Police Department does a great job for City residents, it’s imperative they have reliable vehicles, so that they can continue to deliver a high level of service to our residents.” stated Mayor Buckley. “This is part of our continued investment in public safety, which is crucial to meeting the needs of our community.”

Chief Murray also noted the success of the program, “This is best shape the police fleet has ever been in. These vehicles are much safer and allow us to do what we need. The truck is a great addition since it is a fully functional vehicle with the back seat, but can also assist with other needs like picking up larger items or moving our speed trailer.”

All three vehicles were recently outfitted with the Hornell Police Department logo and will continue with equipment installation before being ready to hit the road.
