Tim Marshall: Why So Many Trees/Branches Are Falling

November 6, 2025

Steuben County Public Safety Director Tim Marshall says, the trees are damaged from invasive insect species, which he says have destroyed many trees.  Marshall says the Emerald Ash Boar Beetle and the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid have damaged the trees so when we have high winds the trees often fall because they are pretty much dead.  “Many times it says tree down, but usually it is a large branch or a portion of the tree,” Marshall stated.
