From The Monroe County Sheriff’ Dept: On May 16, 2023 at 11:29 in the morning, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Penfield Town Court for threats against a Town Justice. The investigation revealed a man called the court, identified himself as Geoffrey Irwin and wanted to speak to someone about his upcoming case. Irwin became upset during the call and threatened to shoot the judge. Out of an abundance of caution and because of the proximity to the school, recreation center and library, deputies set up a secure perimeter. They arrested Irwin on Wednesday as he arrived at the Penfield Town Court for his previously scheduled hearing.
Geoffrey L. Irwin, 40, of Greece is charged with:
Making a Terroristic Threat (Class D-Felony)
Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
Making a Threat of Mass Harm (Class B-Misdemeanor)
Irwin was arraigned in Webster Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $10,000 cash, $20,000 partial bond, and $30,000 secured bond. MCSO would like to thank the Town of Penfield and Penfield Central School District for their collaboration during this investigation
