FROM THE NYSP: New York State Police Wall of Honor – Today We Remember Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason

Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason, 28, was killed on February 11, 2002, in the Town of Crown Point.

At approximately 9 A.M., Trooper Gleason responded to a domestic dispute complaint at the residence of a woman being menaced with a knife by her ex-boyfriend. Prior to Trooper Gleason’s arrival, the ex-boyfriend had left the residence. While in the home interviewing the complainant, the ex-boyfriend returned and shot Trooper Gleason in the back with a 30-caliber rifle. The assailant then shot and killed the woman, before finally turning the weapon on himself and committing suicide.

Trooper Gleason was a one-year veteran and was assigned to SP Schroon Lake at the time of his death.
