The State Thruway Authority is teaming up with state police to target toll evasion and the use of fraudulent or defaced license plates. Officials say that using fake or altered plates to avoid tolls is theft, and they’re committed to protecting drivers who pay their fair share to travel the Thruway.
New York is one of 29 states that require both front and rear license plates on passenger vehicles.
