Troopers: There Was A Fatal Accident In Addison

ADDISON, NY – State police are reporting that there was a fatal three vehicle accident in Addison. That was on Beeman Hollow Road/Route 417 yesterday afternoon in the 2:00 hour. Troopers are still investigating.

The name of the person who was killed, or where the driver is from, that information has not been released as of yet. We do know that the drivers who survived that accident are from Corning and Elmira.

UPDATE 4:19pm: On July 6, 2022, at approximately 2:59 p.m., the State Police responded to a call of a serious accident on State Route 417 in the town of Addison.

Prior to that accident call, several calls were made to both the Chemung County 911 Center, and the Steuben County 911 Center, of an erratic driver on I-86 westbound in the town of Corning.

Investigators believe that the deceased motorist, and lone occupant, later identified as Susan Elston, age 51, from Elmira, was driving erratically on I-86 and erratically on State Route 417 prior to the crash.

Elston who was traveling westbound, moved across the center lane and struck an eastbound vehicle.

The operator of the eastbound vehicle, and sole occupant, Manuel Hoppe, age 40, from Corning was not injured.

The State Police were assisted by NYS DOT, the Addison Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance.
