Tuesday Is School Budget/School Board Voting Day

Tuesday is school board/school budget voting day.

    HORNELL

– There is a proposed levy increase of 1.9 percent. Also, there is a prop to spend $550,000 from the transportation fund on new buses and other vehicles, to replace existing ones in the fleet. There’s also a prop on whether to increase the money going to the hornell public library by $37,000. The Hornell Board of Education has one candidate running – Brian May. Voting for Hornell is noon until 9pm at Hornell High School.

    ARKPORT

– voting hours are 11am to 8pm inside Arkport Central. The proposed Arkport Central budget has a tax levy increase of 2.5%. Also, Arkport Central has props to buy two new school buses and one new school vehicle. The average tax increase on a $100,000 home would be:

No STAR: $103.43
Basic STAR: $88.87
Enhanced STAR: $48.21

    CANISTEO-GREENWOOD –

There is a proposed increase of 1 percent. There are three seats up, with six candidates running for those three seats: incumbents Joe Pacanowski and Heather Cox. There are also four new school board candidates: Tim Stewart, Jason Woodworthy, Kari Delaney and Tracy Flett. There are props for new diesel buses and the Wimodaughsian Free Library. Voting for CG is noon till 8pm at Somers Hall in Canisteo and at the Greenwood Fire Hall.

    ALFRED-ALMOND –

Voting is 1pm-8pm inside the high school auditorium. There are two board of education candidates: Nathan Ahrens and Andrew Deistler. There is a bus prop, on whether to purchase a 66 passenger school bus, a capital project prop, a land purchase prop and a library prop at Alfred-Almond. The capital project will, if passed, renovate the K-12 building, the athletic field and bus garage. The land purchase prop, is about whether to buy a $7500 piece of land on Twin Valley Terrace. The library prop is on, whether to give $$120,000 annually to the Almond Library and $267,630 to the Alfred Box of Books Library.

CANASERAGA – Voting is 2pm-8pm inside the school foyer. The school board candidate is Steven Sleight. There is a library prop to increase the annual tax levy from $40,750 to $42,250. Projected levy increase of 5.85% for Canaseraga.
Budget to budget increase of 5.23%
