The Allegany County Department of Health (ACDOH) is sad to report to our residents and community that there have been two additional COVID-19 related deaths bringing our local total to 68. These deaths, a male age 72 and a female age 76, were due to complications or a consequence of COVID-19. We extend our deepest condolences to their families, and we ask that you respect the families’ privacy during this difficult time.

Then, the Steuben County Public Health Department reports that they received notification of the death of an individual who had previously tested positive for COVID. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 227. The individual was a female resident of the Town of Woodhull or died at the age of 76.

“Our sincere sympathies are with the family and friends of the woman who has passed,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “Please continue to follow prevention strategies to slow the spread in Steuben.” All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
