At the Hornell Public Safety Meeting on Thursday morning, City Police Chief Ted Murray commended the actions of two officers, who were Officer Andrew Koehler and Sgt. Ryan Harrison. On January 26, Koehler, who was serving as a dispatch officer, received a call from a woman who was being beaten in a domestic violence incident. Koehler kept the woman on the phone for over 50 minutes, and he was able to pinpoint her location and direct responding officers to where she was. Later the same day, Harrison responded to a call of a woman in need of medical attention, and, after seeing that the woman was not responsive and not breathing. Harrison started CPR and administered NARCAN, and it is Chief Murray’s opinion that “Sgt. Harrison’s actions… saved this woman’s life.”
