ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY – There will be two public hearings today in the County Legislative Chambers, Room 221, County Office Building, 7 Court Street, Belmont, one at 2:00 p.m. and one at 7:00 p.m.
The hearings will be about the proposed local law entitled, “A Local Law Amending Local Law No. 3 of the Year 1993 and Local Law 1-2005 Providing for a Permanent Plan of Reapportionment for the Allegany County Board of Legislators.”
The big question and there has been much debate about this point, is which district to place West Almond in.
There will be a vote by the Allegany County Legislature on this, on June 26.
Allegany County Legislative Chair Brooke Harris says after that, there might be a public referendum.
West Almond is currently in District 5 and officials are looking at putting West Almond in District 1. District 5 is Alfred, Almond, Burns and Canaseraga, District 1 is Angelica, Belfast, Fillmore and Houghton.
