Two Steuben County Males Charged For Allegedly Throwing Rocks At Cars

CORNING, NY – State Police have arrested two Town of Corning males who are accused of rock throwing on State Route 352, in the Steuben County Town of Gibson, on May 1.

On Friday May 1, troopers got a 9-1-1 report about vehicle damage from unknown persons throwing rocks at passing vehicles near the Gibson Bridge on Route 352. According to State Police, one of the drivers gave chase on foot after the alleged perpetrators and the driver was struck with a rock. State police and Steuben County Sheriff’s patrols canvassed the area and established suspects in the crimes, but investigators continued to collect information.

The two suspects are both from Corning, ages 23 and 19, and on Saturday, May 9, the two were charged with assault 2nd degree for allegedly striking the driver with a rock causing physical injury, two counts of criminal mischief 3rd degree for damaging two vehicles, and endangering the welfare of a child, for taking a 12 year old child during the May 1st incident.

The two were arraigned and released to the custody of their parents to reappear at the Town of Corning Court at a later date.
