U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers, Are In Hornell Today

May 24, 2021

HORNELL, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are in Hornell today. According to Hornell Mayor John Buckley, who was a guest this morning on the Newsmaker Show, the engineers are visiting because of a recent drowing on Army Corps of Engineer property (wer’re told that the drowing incident, was not around here). As a result of that drowning, the engineers are checking out many river bank areas. According to Buckley, the purpose of the examination of the river areas, is to make sure that there is no easy way to fall in and drown.

“What they’re doing is walking along Crosby Creek and even down at James Street Park, looking at ways to make it safer,” Buckley told Wlea News. “Anyone who has ever been around the Crosby Creek area or James Street, knows that there’s certain areas where there is really no wall, on the bank side of it.”

The mayor is also expecting, that some fencing will be put up, in areas near the river in Hornell.
