ARKPORT, NY – At Arkport Central School last night, the board of education discussed the upcoming proposed budget. Arkport School Superintendent Jesse Harper, asked board members for their thoughts on a possible tax increase. After some discussion on the possible options, the school board said they are leaning towards a tentative 2.5 percent tax increase. “Our allowable tax cap is 3.5%,” Harper tells WLEA News. “So the board approved to put into the budget, 2.5 percent. So we’re finding the middle ground, between what we can raise and what our community is going to support, at that 2.5 percent,” Harper explained.
The official presentation of the budget has not happened yet. These are tentative numbers.
School budget voting day for Arkport voters, will be held on Tuesday, May 20.
