The current Hornell High School outdoor basketball courts have been removed. Crews are going to put additional parking there for the stadium and the gate that has been located by the courts will be moved closer to the school. The basketball courts will be moved to be a part of the new tennis courts that are currently under construction. The outdoor Hornell High basketball courts will be divided from the Hornell tennis courts so that they don’t interfere with each other and so the basketball courts will not be accessible while tennis matches are occurring.
Crews will also be striping the tennis courts to allow use for both tennis and pickle ball. Also there will be five courts there instead of six courts, to account for the space needed to bring basketball to that area. Construction there started last fall but stopped as winter started. It will be resuming shortly with plans to be open for use this summer.
