Update On Matthew Cole Situation

March 12, 2018

HORNELL, NY – Matthew Cole is the Hornell man who was found lying in the median of Route 36 in South Hornell with a head injury, on Saturday morning, by Hornell Police. Hornell Police called for an ambulance and after that, turned the case over to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, as that section of Route 36 is the sheriff’s department’s jurisdiction.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says that it appears that Cole was injured somewhere else, before he was found on Route 36. The investigation by the sheriff’s office indicates that Cole was accidentally injured at another location, then driven to an area that was near his home, and that Cole suffered a cardiac problem while walking, and collapsed on the median on Route 36.

Matthew Cole is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Sheriff Allard is thanking the Hornell Police Department, for their help during this case.
