June 20, 2015, 7:48pm

AMITY, NY – New York State Police report that they are investigating the possible sighting of two men in Allegany County who may fit the description of Clinton Correctional Facility escapees David Sweat and Richard Matt.

On Saturday afternoon (June 20) troopers say that a witness spotted two men along a railroad line that runs along Route 20 in the Town of Friendship.

State Police, U.S. Marshals, officers from the Department of Environmental Conservation, State Parks Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s Department and other local law enforcement are currently searching an area along I-86 and Route 20 in the Town of Friendship. Aviation, canine and special operation teams are assisting in the search.

State Police also say that while this is an unconfirmed sighting, those who live in this area are to be on alert.  “If these men are spotted, please call 911 immediately,” NYSP stated.  “Do not approach, as both are considered to be very dangerous.”

The contact info, if anyone has any other information regarding the escapees, is 1-800-GIVETIP.  There is a reward of $50,000 for information that leads to the capture of either suspect ($100,000 for both).

This week, U.S. Marshals Service placed Sweat and Matt on their 15 Most Wanted Fugitives List, and Marshals are also offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of either suspect.
