ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY – The victim involved in Tuesday morning’s fatal fire on Pine Street in Wellsville has been identified. Authorities say the victim is 72-year-old Thomas Allen. County Coroner Dylan Foust said Allen was pronounced at Jones Memorial. Allen’s wife sustained smoke inhalation and was treated at the hospital. Foust commended Wellsville officer Valentine and others for their heroic efforts. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Wellsville mayor Randy Shayler also praised the heroic efforts of Officer Valentine and neighbors as they attempted to rescue the victim.
