Arkport Village Mayor George Prete says, at this evening’s village board meeting, he’ll be presenting the Arkport Village trustees with Hornell Mayor John Buckley’s proposal about the Hornell Police Department patrolling Arkport Streets. Late last year, Arkport Mayor George Prete asked Hornell Mayor John Buckley if Hornell Police could do patrols around Arkport, especially near Arkport Central School. That’s because of speeding drivers there in Arkport. The Arkoprt mayor says, when they had speed trailers around the village over half a year ago, they clocked some drivers going over 50 miles an hour, in a 30 mph zone. So the two mayors have been working out details for a police agreement for over six months now and we’ll see what the village board says at tonight’s Arkport Village Board meeting.
