Allegany County officials tell our news department that Ian Jones will be sworn in as Judge for Allegany County and Peter Degnan will be sworn in as Acting District Attorney on January 1 at 11:30 AM. The two swearing-in ceremonies will be held at the Elks Club in Wellsville.
Ian Jones became an assistant district attorney in 2019 and in 2024 the district attorney. Peter Degnan has worked as both assistant district attorney and as a defense attorney.
Jones will replace Allegany County Judge Tom Brown, Degnan will be the replacement for Jones in the D.A’s Office in Belmont.
