Working Things Out Between HFD And Other Towns

September 8, 2022

HORNELL, NY – Hornell Mayor John Buckley is going to introduce a resolution to the Hornell Common Council about how Hornell has been providing ambulance service to towns that Hornell doesn’t have contracts with. According to Buckley, a Hornell firefighter was injured at a town outside of Hornell and there was no recovery money, from that town, to that Hornell firefighter.

Moveover, the Hornell mayor says, the whole thing has been too expensive for Hornell. Fire Chief Frank Brozowski says that one cause of this increasing cost is that a new state law prevents Hornell ambulance crews from being able to bill individuals for some of the services.

Buckley’s resolution will, if approved by the Common Council, give Buckley the authority to negotiate with other town leaders.
