Mauro Retiring as Head of Arkport DPW

October 17th, 2017

ARKPORT, NY – The Arkport Village Board announced Tuesday evening that long time DPW superintendent Bob Mauro will officially retire as of November 1st, 2017. Mauro, who has held the position for over 15 years, will serve as a consultant to newly hired Joe Dwyer until a smooth transition can be made.

Dwyer, 58, of Arkport, has been a mason for various contractors for the past 30 years. He will be working part time along with Mauro’s help until the November 1st deadline when hopefully he can assume full responsibility.

His biggest challenge will be learning how the water infrastructure works, then get his certification around February of next year when he will attend school for one week. “There’s a lot to learn,” said Dwyer, “I will need Mauro’s assistance for some time. His extensive knowledge of the inter workings of the village is invaluable.”

According to Mayor Charlie Flanders, Mauro will still be on the payroll part time as needed.
