Steuben County To Help Drivers With Autism, Thanks To The Blue Envelope Program

January 26, 2025

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department is going to be taking part in the Blue Envelope program. That’s where people with autism keep a blue envelope in their vehicles in case they get pulled over.

In those situations, the driver gives the envelope to the officer, so law enforcement knows how to understand the driver’s situation more clearly.

“Anything that we can do that helps a segment of our population be safer, I think is a fantastic idea,” said Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard.
