Allegany Co Holds A Press Conference About Covid

ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY – The Allegany County Legislature held a press conference in the noon hour today. During this presser, officials said that there are high numbers of the unvaccinated in Allegany County. Allegany County Public Health Director Tyler Shaw, noted the average age of the covid deaths in Allegany County, among the unvaccinated, is age 69. Shaw also said that towns with low vaccination rates include Alfred, Belfast, Fillmore, Scio and Friendship. Dr Jackie Anderson, director of the Jones Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Wellsville, said that being unvaccinated in Allegany County, “endangers you and those around you.”

Tyler Shaw and Allegany County Legislative Leader Curt Crandall is also strongly encouraging wearing covid masks, hand washing and staying home if sick.

The message from Jones Memorial and Allegany County Public Health was clear: get vaccinated and get a booster.
