Avoca Fire Suspect Back in New York State

AVOCA, NY – State Police are reporting that the Kansas woman who has been charged in connection with last month’s fire at the Avoca Arrow-Mart, has been brought back to New York. After waiving extradition proceeding in Kansas, Elicia Nichols, age 26, of #2021 S.W. Arnold Ave., Topeka, Kansas, was arraigned before Town of Avoca Justice John McCarthy on charges of Burglary, 3rd degree and Criminal Mischief, 2nd, both class “D” felonies.

Troopers say that Nichols was remanded to the Steuben Co. Jail without bail. Investigation by the New York State Police at Bath is continuing, with additional charges pending possible Grand Jury action.
