Bath Man Facing Manslaughter Charge, From Fatal Overdose

STEUBEN COUNTY, NY – Bath Village Police Chief Chad Mullen reports the arrest of Matthew Taft Sr of Bath, 38 years old. Chief Mullen says that Taft is accused of selling heroin to someone who died in an overdose last year. The charges against Taft are 2nd degree manslaughter and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd. Taft is in Steuben County jail without bail by Judge Pat McAllister.

Update – 5:19pm – Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker added, that the fatal victim was Joshua Rowe, who suffered an overdose of Heroin with Fentanyl in it, back in August of last year. The D.A. says that Taft knowingly failed to take any actions or precautions to help Rowe, and that this recklessly caused Rowe’s death.
