HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police report that 19 year old Jametris Jordan of Bath and an unnamed juvenile broke into a house on Rockwell Avenue yesterday morning in the 9am hour. The two are said to have had handguns, one of which was discharged during the robbery. Jordan and the juvenile are said to have stolen money and a car. The car crashed on County Route 109 outside of Hornell, and both suspects were arrested after the crash, Jordan is facing numerous charges, the juvenile is still in Strong Memorial Hospital being treated for injuries from the car crash. Also, Hornell Police report that one of the robbery victims, was taken to St James for treatment of injuries suffered during that home invasion, though Hornell Police point out that no one was hit by the shot that was fired during the robbery, when the gun was discharged. Police recovered two handguns.
The charges against Jametris Jordan are:
1st degree robbery
1st degree burglary (2 counts)
1st degree criminal use of a firearm
2nd degree assault (2 counts)
3rd degree grand larceny
3rd degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
2nd degree unlawful imprisonment
Police Chief Ted Murray said his officers made a quick response to the call about this incident and had the suspects in custody within minutes of the call. Murray says he would also like to thank the Steuben County Sheriffs Department, State Police, Canisteo Police, and the NYS Parole office for their assistance in this case.
