Canisteo Village Board Overrides Tax Cap

CANISTEO, NY – The Canisteo Village Board has voted to override the state’s 2 percent tax cap. The current budget for the village of Canisteo is just over $440,000, and the proposed tax increase is 4.47 percent increase, a $7.30 per thousand, up from last year, which was $6.98 per thousand.
Also, Madeline Seaman was sworn in last night as village justice, and Brandon Austin was sworn in as a village police officer. Madeline Seaman was first sworn in, and then she swore in officer Austin.
