CANISTEO, NY – At the Monday night monthly Canisteo Village board meeting, Mayor Bill Tucker said that the village is still actively seeking grants for assistance to fire departments and emergency personnel and also for help in paying for the new fire truck. It was noted that the truck is currently in production with the chassis on the assembly line.

Mayor Tucker told the village board they will soon be in negotiations with the teamsters union over pay for the DPW workers.canisteo

In other Canisteo news, the board set of public hearing date for January 4th, 2016 at 6:45pm to update a local law that addresses the Uniform Fire and Prevention Building Codes for New York State. Tucker is also reminding residents and business owners that they are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice in the coming months.

Also a sincere thank you was given to all who helped place lights on the Christmas trees around the park and a special thank you was given to the historical society for hosting this year’s “Christmas in the Village.”
