HORNELL, NY – St. James Hospital issued the following statement, about Oak Orchard Health, opening up on Monday in Hornell:
Officials from St. James Mercy Hospital (SJMH) and community leaders are welcoming Oak Orchard Health to the Hornell community, as the healthcare provider officially opens its doors today.
“For more than a year now we have been working with Jim Cummings and the Oak
Orchard Health team to bring their top-notch medical services to our community,” said
Jennifer L. Sullivan, president and CEO, St. James Mercy Hospital. “The opening of this
first-class healthcare provider is proof positive of the successful collaboration between so
many within our community — from elected officials, to clinicians, to our partner in UR
Medicine — to create a sustainable healthcare presence for the community.”
Oak Orchard will offer pediatric care services starting Monday, December 7, followed by
primary care/family medicine services and dental care in early 2016.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the health needs of Hornell and its
surrounding areas,” said Jim Cummings, Oak Orchard Health CEO. “In working with our
collaborating partners to achieve this healthcare transformation, the commitment to
community has been remarkably demonstrated. We are eager to get to work and further

Dr. Uzma Mehr will lead the pediatric practice for Oak Orchard. Dr. Spencer Annabel’s
patient practice and Dr. Robert Whelpley are joining Oak Orchard and will begin seeing
family medicine patients in early January. Both the pediatric and primary care/family
medicine practices will be located at 20 Elm Street. Site development is underway for the
new dental practice.
