Charles M. Hilsdorf, of Hornell

HORNELL-Charles M. Hilsdorf, 88, of Old Almond Rd., passed away Thursday (August 7, 2014) at home.

Born in Hornell, December 9, 1925, the son of Conrad and Louise Knopf Hilsdorf, he had been a lifelong area resident and was one of ten children. Charles served his country in the US Air Force and had been employed at Crowley Dairy in Arkport. He loved fishing, hunting and raised quale and pheasants.

In addition to his parents Charles was predeceased by his wife, Velma Greenfield Hilsdorf in 2009, three sisters, Mable Shuster, Celia Lons and Ethel Diehl, three brothers, infant Robert Hilsdorf, George and Herman Hilsdorf.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Carol (Greg) Miller of Holly, Diane (Richard) Butler of Hornell, Tina (Joe) Paddock of Henrietta, and Dr. Jackie (Walter) Nichols of Washington DC, son, Ronald (Barbara) Hilsdorf of Hornell,  12 Grandchildren; Sara Hilsdorf, Rian Hilsdorf, Andrea (Randy) Smith, Amanda Butler, Jaide Paddock, Saige Paddock, Evan Miller, Lucas Miller, Cori Miller, Garrett Miller,  Yasmin Miller and Chelsey Consiglio, 4 Great Grandchildren, Conrad, Haylee, Gavin and Hayden also survived by special friend Alan Reitnauer, brother, Conrad Hilsdorf, two sisters, Clara Clark and Mary Preston.

Honoring Charles’s wishes there will not be calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
