Cora R. Donelson, formerly of Canisteo

CANISTEO: Cora R. Donelson, 94, formerly of Charlie Dr. passed away peacefully Tuesday (Dec. 23, 2014) at Hornell Gardens surrounded by her family.

 

Cora was born April 14, 1920 in the town of Canisteo to Alfred and Myrtle (Wise) Parsels. On June 1, 1946 in Rochester, she married Earl L. Donelson who predeceased her in August of 2001. She was also predeceased by a son Earl L. Donelson, Jr. in February 2007, her first husband Kenneth Mulhollen who died in action during WWII, step-daughter: Dorothy Quinn, three brothers: Burton and Stanley Parsels, Joe Hampshire, four sisters: Virginia Collins, Kathryn Drake, Millie Spencer and Dorothy Vanderhoef.

 

Cora had attended Addison Central School. She was employed as an assembly line worker for more than 25 years at the former Westinghouse Co. in Bath. Prior to working at Westinghouse she was employed at Corning Glass and the former Ice House in Hornell. She attended the Adrian Baptist Church and loved to crochet, plastic canvassing and many other crafts. She cherished her family very much and always enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

 

Cora is survived by a daughter: Patricia Mulhollen Magee of Rochester, two step-sons: Harold (Helen) Donelson of Jasper and Carl (Shirley) Donelson of Wayne. She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Geraldine Parsels of Cameron, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, N.Y.
