Details On That Bad Accident – On Bethesda Drive

December 14, 2022

From Sheriff Jim Allard:

On December 13, 2022, at about 5:57pm, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators responded to the intersection of SR36 and Bethesda Drive, to investigate a reported crash between a bicyclist and a pickup truck. The bicyclist sustained serious injury and was taken by EMS to a medical facility for treatment. The operator of the motor vehicle was interviewed, tested, and determined not to be intoxicated or impaired. The Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded and collected evidence pertaining to the crash, closing SR36 for a short time. Several witnesses were interviewed and video evidence of the crash was recovered. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is continuing.

Sheriff Allard wishes to remind all pedestrians and bicyclists of the need to follow all vehicle and traffic regulations, and to wear reflective clothing when walking or biking after dark. Traffic safety is everyone’s business.
