Steuben County Mobility Management Director Eddie Van Stine is not a fan of electric school buses, and is making this known in a series of articles he’s written. Here’s a little bit of what Van Stine recently penned:
“EV SCHOOL BUSSES In Rural America – are they going to be streamlined by the mandate – YES OR NO?NY Mobility says No. And if it does make it there will be a ton of other issues. In this grand narrative of electric buses, the economic and environmental realities stare us in the face. It’s not a magical transition; it’s a financial burden that won’t materialize out of thin air. In an economy limping along, the push to retire every bus and replace it with a model that’s not quite right yet seems like a gamble not worth taking. It’s time to question the wisdom of trading a fleet that works for one that’s still finding its feet, especially when the cost is not just monetary but a toll on an already strained economy,” VanStine said in a new article.
