Mayor John Buckley has ordered City flags to remain lowered in honor of longtime former 7th Ward Alderwoman Jean Shepard, who passed away Saturday.
“We’ve lost an incredible woman and community member. Having honorably served on the Common Council for 30 years, Jean was a dedicated and tireless advocate for our residents. I was fortunate to have served alongside Jean for a time before she retired. She was never afraid to speak her mind, which I greatly admired. Jean was a mentor to me and I always looked up to her. My deepest condolences are with the Shepard family.”
Flags will remain lowered until after the funeral.
