HORNELL, NY – Mayor Shawn Hogan tells WLEA News that Friendly’s Restaurant in Hornell closed on Sunday night.
The mayor says that the reason he was told for the restaurant shutting their doors, is that the landlord raised the rent, and because Friendly’s was going through financial problems at the national level, that the corporation decided to close the Hornell restaurant.
Hogan says he’s confident that it won’t be an empty building for very long, and that Hornell will get another restaurant in that area. “We’ll work to fill the slot, just as we worked to fill the theater, we’ll work to fill this,” Hogan told WLEA News. “When one door closes, another one opens.”
