ALMOND-Gerald H. “Jerry” Powers, 87, of 18 Mill St., Almond, NY died Saturday afternoon (August 13, 2022) at Hornell Gardens, following a long illness.
Born in Hornell on September 19, 1934, he was the son of Albert & Cecile (Robertson) Powers.
Jerry grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1954). He was a veteran of the US Army, serving his country from 1957 – 1959. He was employed in many capacities at Ingersoll Rand Corporation in Painted Post, retiring in 1998 as a parts inspector. He has resided in Almond since 1998.
On August 24, 1957, Jerry married the former Carolyn Bird who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Dale (Carrie) Powers, Jeff Powers and Jamie (Trish) Powers; 1 brother, Gary (Sue) Powers; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
The family of Gerald H. “Jerry” Powers will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In recognition of Jerry’s service to his country as a member of the US Army, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.
