HAT Bus Update: New Buses Are Expected To Be On The Streets By August

July 21, 2026

Hornell Mayor John Buckley says, the HAT Bus System has been waiting for half a dozen buses to be shipped in by a manufacturer. “So at HAT, they’ve been struggling because the age of the fleets,” Buckley said. “New buses were supposed to be delivered back in March. However, the manufacturer had delay after delay, and we’re having to limp along with these old buses. Once we get these new buses into the fold, and we expect the new buses to be delivered sometime, sometime in August, hopefully by the end of August.” The mayor says at that point, they’ll get rid of some of these older buses. “These old buses that are cost prohibited to keep running. So there is good news in sight, but we ask everyone to be patient in the meantime, and we’re doing the best we can to provide the service” Buckley explained.
