HORNELL, NY – At Tuesday evening’s monthly common council meeting the rezoning of two large parcels of property took place. Ten acres of a fifty acre lot by the Hornell Airport was rezoned from agricultural to multi-family residential (R3) that makes way for a market rate housing complex in the near future. Hornell mayor Shawn Hogan said there is interest from developers already and the city should start to prepare.
Also rezoned was a 25 acre lot off Fairlawn Avenue between West and Wood Streets from single family residential housing (R1) to multi-family (R3). This is to make room for Riedman Developers proposed 60 unit apartment complex that was previously planned for Shawmut Park area.
