HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police are warning area residents to beware of contractors who go door to door, demanding that repairs be made to people’s homes.

There have been some recent trends in our area involving contractors scamming home owners out of in some cases thousands of daollars. These contractors often go door to door, and attempt to target vulnerable home owners, claiming an urgent need of repair to the home, as well as other high presure tactics. We have many good hard working contractors in our area, and we require all of them to pass background screening and be registered with the City. We encourage all home owners to research any contractors, and to contact our agency if you encounter such door to door contractors at 324-2860
