HORNELL N.Y.- The Hornell city school district Board of Education met and ratified the contracts, between the school district and the administration as well as the support staff.
The groups that got new contracts are as follows;
Hornell principals and directors- for the period of July 1st 2013 – June 30, 2016
Hornell Employees Support staff association – for the period of July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2018
Hornell Paraprofessionals association – for the period of July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2017
Hornell Substitute Teachers association – for the period of June 30, 2013 – June 30, 2017
The Extended School day program agreed to terms with the Hornell City School District, and Timothy Crowe (extended school day coodinator) for a contract effective Septemer 4, 2013 – June 30, 2014
The board of education in other matters in the agenda, granted tenure to Sean Gaffney, the district’s Elementary principal effective November 5, 2013. In other action, the board approved the hiring of five probationary support staff members while accepting the resignation of cleaner Rachelle Remchuck effective Novemeber 5, 2013.; Edith Blake, Ann Burdett, and Angel Flint were added as food service helpers, whereas Johnny Tolbert and David Stewart were hired as cleaners.
The girls jv basketball team will have a new coach in place with Megan Lowe being approved as coach for the 2013-14 season, on the recommendation of Superintendent Doug Wyant. The board will meet again on November 20th, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the Columbian school.
