Hornell Water Update

September 15, 2021

HORNELL, NY – The Hornell Board of Public Works met yesterday morning and discussed the water discoloration issue that has been effecting parts of the City. Chief Water Operator Lenny Fucci attributed part of the problem to the warmer than normal temperature of the water flowing through the system which can cause discoloration and missed flushing cycles in the past year due to the construction of two new water tanks at the Filtration Plant.

Mayor John Buckley says the Water Department has been working vigorously to resolve the issues and DPW crews are aggressively flushing hydrants this week in order to clear water lines throughout the system. The mayor said this has been a very frustrating issue for residents, but asks everyone for their patience as crews perform their work.
