December 16, 2014

HORNELL, NY – The Hornell Common Council passed a resolution Monday night, to repeal the local tax law and share all city sales tax with county for a five year period.  Mayor Shawn Hogan says this is a good deal for the city as it will increase local revenue $80,000 in the first year, $60,000 in the 2nd year, $45,000 in the 3rd year, etc.

Hogan explained that Hornell has the option to opt out after the five years is over. Hogan also announced the grand opening of the new movie theater, the Spotlight Theater on Main Street, with a showing tonight of the Hobbit.
