HPD Investigator Recognized as June’s Employee Spotlight

June 27th, 2018

HORNELL, NY – Long time Hornell police officer/investigator Tom Aini was recognized by Mayor John Buckley Wednesday morning for his dedication over the years keeping the streets of Hornell free of drugs and other crimes.

“Tom’s investigations have lead to numerous arrests and convictions over the years and I would just like to take this time and commend his efforts. One of my top priorities when taking the Mayor’s position was to try and clean up the drug use in the city and Tom has been a big part of me achieving that goal,” said Buckley.

Aini added, “I have had a great mentor in Police Chief Ted Murray, and also former chief Crowe, who showed confidence in me and was responsible for promoting me to investigator.”

Aini, a Corning Community College graduate, started as a temporary officer with the HPD in 1986. After brief stints in Alfred and Canisteo, he returned to a full time position in 1989. In 1993, Aini was promoted to investigator and has held the position ever since.
