HORNELL, NY – The Hornell IDA unanimously approved adding Mayor Shawn Hogan to its staff as a consultant when his term expires as Mayor December 31st, 2017. Fellow IDA board members agreed to give him a 2 year contract starting January 1st, 2018 and running until December 31st, 2019 at a set pay rate of $5,000 per month.
According to board president Sam Nasca, the IDA is thrilled to have a person with so much knowledge and experience to help the growth and direction of the city in the next few years. “We as a board have felt very strongly, that Mayor Hogan over the past 32 years has participated in, and been an integral part of this board. During that time he has performed his responsibilities of economic development to the highest level. His experience is priceless. His contacts with state and federal governments are invaluable.”
According to Nasca, there will be no health care or benefits in his contract, just a straight up salary. “There also will be no set amounts of hours required, as long as he fulfills the duties required by the board.” Nasca concluded, “It should be a full time job with the entire scope of projects taking place in the city at the moment. He’s needed, were going to draw on his value, and we think we got a great bargain!”
