HORNELL, NY – Today at Noon, Dan Swift, his children, Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray, Mayor John Buckley, and Joe Racalto, spoke about the new memorial that is being planned, in honor of Sgt. Dan Swift, the Hornell Police Officer who died in the line of Duty in Hornell, on October 24, 1973, at the age of 25, while trying to prevent some teenagers from stealing a car.
Dan Swift Jr. spoke movingly about the loss to his family, and his children got up and read a poem about police officers.
