HORNELL-Mary Agnes (Argentieri) Crosby, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning (July 20, 2021) at her home on Sheldon Court, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Hornell on August 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Silvino and Dorothy (Feeney) Argentieri. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Francis “Babi” and James Argentieri.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Mary Agnes was a graduate of St. Ann’s School, Hornell High School in 1949 and St. James School of Nursing in 1952.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell for 10 years and from 1986 until her retirement in 2001 she was employed at the medical office of the late Dr. Mario Argentieri in Hornell.
Mary Agnes was a devout member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was an avid reader and was a member of the “Birthday Club.”
She will be remembered most of all for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Her loving family include her husband of nearly 60 years, Donald G. Crosby, who she married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell on August 26, 1961; four children, David (Debra) Crosby of North Hornell, Ellen (Michael) Mouillesseaux of Endicott, NY, Nancy (Frank) Fenti of Livonia, NY and Patricia (Jody) Lebrenz of Tonawanda, NY; five grandchildren, Emily Mouillesseaux, Natalie Crosby, Rachel Mouillesseaux, Daniel Crosby and Erin Crosby; one brother, William Argentieri of Hornell; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Argentieri of Hornell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday (July 23, 2021) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to join her family at St. Ann’s Church, 31 Erie Ave., Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday (July 24, 2021). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843 or to CareFirst Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
