November 18, 2021, Steuben Co Has 142 New Cases

There have been 142 new cases of COVID since Monday’s update. Sadly, 2 more have passed. 65% of today’s positives are not vaccinated. Of the cases who are hospitalized, 66% are not vaccinated.
Traditionally, many have large gatherings for upcoming holidays. We strongly encourage families to discuss their plans and how they will slow the spread this season, particularly if anyone is feeling ill.
COVID vaccines and boosters are available at the Civil Defense Training Center in Bath on Friday from 10 am – 2 pm. Registrations are strongly recommended. Register at www.steubencony.org/covid
Multiple positives are associated with the following school districts: Campbell-Savona (4), Wayland-Cohocton (10), Corning-Painted Post (13), Arkport (3), Prattsburgh (3).

The Steuben County Public Health Department also received notification of the deaths of two individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 239.

One individual was a female resident from the Town of Lindley who died at the age of 74 and one was a female resident from the Town of Hornby who died at the age of 85.
“Our heartfelt condolences are with the families and friends of those who have passed,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “Traditionally, many have large gatherings for upcoming holidays. We strongly encourage families to discuss their plans and how they will slow the spread this season, particularly if anyone is feeling ill.”

All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
